The Zoological Society for the Conservation of Species and Populations (ZGAP) is dedicated to protecting highly endangered animal species that are often overlooked in conventional nature conservation projects. With special breeding programs and on-site conservation measures, the ZGAP makes a significant contribution to the preservation of endangered species, especially rare bird species.
The birds that receive support include, among others
-
Philippine cockatoo (Cacatua haematuropygia), which is critically endangered due to habitat destruction and illegal trade.
-
Vietnamese pheasant (Lophura edwardsi), a species that is nearly extinct in the wild.
-
Yellow-crested cockatoo (Cacatua sulphurea), whose population is being stabilized through targeted conservation measures.
The ZGAP works closely with local and international partners to ensure the protection of these and many other endangered species. The breeding programs aim to halt the decline of these species and secure their long-term survival.
Grumbach supports this valuable work as a corporate member of ZGAP. Through its membership, Grumbach actively promotes ZGAP's breeding and conservation projects, thereby contributing to the preservation of biodiversity.
